Vibration Testing

Vibration testing is used by manufacturers to gain insights on product reliability. The type of vibration stresses selected is based on the typical expected vibration that the product will experience during transport and throughout the product’s useful life cycle. The vibration tests are defined in MIL-STD-810, RTCA-DO-160, MIL-HDBK-2164A or real-time vibration data can be recorded, transferred to the vibration system and applied to the product under test.

Viable Power’s test equipment consist of a Thermotron DSX-4000/24-915/1 electrodynamic shaker. Our vibration system can be programmed to meet the requirements defined in MIL-STD-810, RTCA-DO-160, MIL-HDBK-2164A, and others. Our equipment is regularly calibrated with results traceable to NIST. Calibration certificates are available.

Vibration System Inclusions

  • Random (including Random on Random and Sine on Random), Sine, Shock (Classic and Shock Response Spectrum (SRS)), Real Data Mode with a maximum displacement of 2” peak to peak continuous.
  • An octagonal 25” x 25” with 2” x 2” grid 3/8”-16 threaded attachment point magnesium mounting plate can be attached to the table for ease of fixture mounting. This is a single axis shaker, however, with a custom adapter we can perform 3-axis vibrations on units with maximum dimension of 20” x 20” and a mass of 30 lbs.

Vibration System Capabilities

  • Frequency range: 5 to 2000 Hz

  • Sine or Random test maximum rating: 3,200 lb force

  • Shock test maximum rating: For 11ms, Half Sine or Saw Tooth 30g with 357 lbs, for 4ms, Half Sine or Saw Tooth 50g with 357 lbs
